Don't be puzzled by today!

Don’t be puzzled by today. National Puzzle Day held every year on January 29th honours puzzles of all size, shape and form. Crossword puzzles are by far the most common. Sudoku, a number puzzle, is the most recent puzzle rage.

Puzzles are a favourite pastime of millions of people, young and old. So, what’s with this fascination over puzzles? For many, doing puzzles is fun; others simply like the challenge of graduating to evermore complex and difficult puzzle solving levels. Scientific studies show that completing puzzles produces a chemical known as dopamine in the brain, which is chiefly responsible for learning and memory. The production of this chemical increases in the brain at the time when it is engaged in solving the jigsaw puzzle.

The largest jigsaw puzzle ever produced contained 40,320 pieces and measured 22.3 feet long by 6.2 feet tall. While we at Oh My Gift have nothing so substantial at our store we do have jigsaw maps which can be personalised to a specific address, yours or for a friend or relative as a gift.
